Project Title: Tennis Education for Disadvantaged Youth
Project Description:

Our organization operates a fall and winter program in indoor locations, as well as outdoor programs in the spring and summer in East Orange, Irvington and Newark, in partnership with each city’s recreation department. After school programs are held throughout the area, in school gymnasiums or community centers, using USTA’s Netgeneration format and the ACE curriculum, which provides an engaging multicultural approach that addresses the achievement gap while promoting social/emotional skills, health/wellness, and family involvement. Our programs teach problem solving strategies to be employed both on and off the court.

In addition, in partnership with the City of Newark, EGTE offers tennis summer camp for children ages 5 to 16. During our six-week summer camp, youth receive instruction on the basic foundation of tennis while also experiencing character development and ongoing support from qualified mentors.

Most participants pay little or no cost through our indoor, outdoor and after school community programs.

Our programs operate on three basic principles; Access, Affordability and Opportunity. Educational programs and guidance augment the teaching in school through homework assistance and encouraging competency in mathematics and literacy. After school academic initiative programs are designed to support and encourage academic achievement, health, wellness, and strengthen life skills.

The fall/winter tennis program prepares all levels of tennis players from beginner to advance; high-school and tournament players, to people that have never had a racquet before. Additionally, the program focuses on helping kids succeed off the court by focusing on sustaining and furthering their education with homework help, study skills, college application process and preparation.

Project Title: Walk of Faith
Project Description:

Community Christian School was started out of the wholehearted desire to honor God, raise servant leaders, and impact the community for good. Twelve years later, Community Christian School long since outgrew our church basement beginnings and is quickly outgrowing the Fairfield Elementary school campus purchased with a cash bid in 2010.

We are enriching our student experience and upgrading our accreditation. The Association of International Christian School accreditation is complete, and we became a National Honor Society member this year. We have a waiting list for the first time. We turned away multiple students this year because our space simply couldn’t accommodate the expansion of our high school class.

The audacious Walk of Faith campaign goals will equip us to serve more area families, raise up more lifelong servant leaders, and effectively share the gospel message of hope with more people, from toddlers to young adult graduates as well as their families. With the Walk of Faith project campus expansion, we will add a daycare program and more richly enliven our student’s study experience with science labs, more teachers, and additional learning space.

We are proud to share our students a 100% graduation rate. Because we are accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International, our alumni can count on college acceptance most anywhere in the nation they choose to pursue their higher education dreams. The “accredited” seal denotes a school that has met institutional standards of quality and verifies a commitment to strategic improvement and ongoing accountability.

This project is a comprehensive campaign to expand the CCS campus. These funds will be used to fund the architectural drawings, surveys and permits to begin groundbreaking.
