Project Title: Children and Youth Art Education
Project Description:

As funding for art education has dwindled, the Museum has increased its offerings for K-12 children, becoming an indispensable cultural resource for teachers, public schools, and social service agencies in South Florida. A leader in art education for 65 years, we’re approved by the School District of Palm Beach County for cultural activity. Four F/T and one P/T education staff represent 100 years of experience in the field. We offer in-service workshops for K-12 teachers and 100 online lesson plans receive 3,950 \"hits\" each month. Annually our Art Education Department provides:
School Tours: generously supported by corporate, foundation, and private donors, our Art Education Department provides guided tours (Florida Curriculum Standards) of our exhibitions for over 2,000 K-12 schoolchildren at no cost. 50% of participants are from Title 1 schools.
Education Mornings: Combines a school tour with hands-on instruction for over 3,000 K-12 schoolchildren at no cost. After a guided tour investigating a selected theme in detail by looking at original works of art in our permanent collection, the students participate in a studio workshop in which they create their own work of art.
School Fund: We further reduce barriers to participation with support awards of $250 to 40 Title 1 schools to supplement and enhance their experience with transportation to the Museum, art supplies, teacher training, or even substitute teachers.
Meet a Master, Create a Masterpiece: 4 days a week, 35 weeks a year, we provide afterschool enrichment programs for 2,800 at-risk children at no cost in partnership with non-profits–Florence Fuller Centers, Milagros Center, and Youth Activity Center. Trained art educators provide creative learning through the inspiring work of master artists, and unlock the children\’s own creative potential with hands-on art activities. Further enrichment is provided with free Museum field trips passes for the children and their families.
