Through intentional, developmentally appropriate art experiences, Sandra encourages children to engage in creative exploration that strengthens both social-emotional and academic growth. SCCS’s Art Enrichment Project fosters confidence, perseverance, and collaboration. In an inclusive environment, children across the consortium learn to share materials, communicate ideas, and celebrate one another’s differences—skills that are essential for kindergarten readiness and long-term academic success. For many children participating in this program, art has become a powerful tool for expression when words are still developing.

SCCS, Seattle’s first early learning shared services consortium, is committed to eliminating the opportunity gap between children who have consistent access to high-quality, culturally responsive early education and those who do not, disparities that disproportionately impact children of color and families experiencing financial insecurity. Through our innovative model, SCCS strengthens both educational quality and children’s social-emotional development. SCCS is among the largest providers contracted with the Department of Early Learning’s Seattle Preschool Program (SPP), and a leader in the shared services space, delivering high-quality early learning services to more than 450 children across 10 center locations throughout King County.

Because of our comprehensive model, we can prioritize and integrate critical enrichment initiatives that deepen learning and development, including art. Research consistently demonstrates that high-quality art enrichment supports children with complex needs and experiences of trauma by promoting emotional regulation, self-expression, executive functioning, and resilience. By embedding enrichment within the classroom, SCCS ensures that creativity and healing are not supplemental, but essential components of education. Sustained access to high-quality art instruction is critical in early learning settings, ensuring every child experiences creativity as a pathway to joyful learning.

Total Project Budget: $65,000—Our total budget covers all costs associated with the project, including materials, distribution, transportation, and labor.

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): SCCS respectfully requests that The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Foundation support 16% of the total project budget. The Sound Child Care Solutions Central Office has committed 54% of the project budget through existing Employee Retention Credit funds, while the remaining 30% is confirmed through investments from individual SCCS Chapters.

Project Duration: 9/1/2026-8/31/2027
Geographical Area Served: King County
Age Group To Be Served: 2-5 years

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs.
Contact First Name: Emily
Contact Last Name: Adams
Contact Title: Deputy Director
Contact Phone: 206-420-7165
Contact Email: eadams@soundchild.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Sound Child Care Solutions Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: SCCS Mailing Address: 1225 South Weller St. Suite 200 City: Seattle State: Washington Postal Code: 98144 Main Phone: 206-420-7165 Main Fax: Organization Website: https://www.soundchild.org/ Employer ID Number: 02-0551791 Organization Tax Status: 501(c)(3) Proposal Information Today’s Date: […]

[3

post-9906","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
