Project Title: After School Leadership Program for At-Risk Phoenix Youth

MentorKids USA respectfully requests $3,000 from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation to support our LEAD after-school program for under-resourced K-8th grade students. LEAD \u2013 \u201cLeadership, Enrichment, Academics, and Discovery\u201d \u2013 is a no-cost, four day per week after-school program designed to nurture academic growth, leadership skills, and character development. Each session offers individualized reading and math tutoring, homework help, leadership lessons, life skills, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and enriching activities in a safe, caring environment. <\/p>\n
The objective of LEAD is to positively impact student success\u2014in the classroom and in the community, long- and short-term, by focusing on outcomes tailored to each individual student, and his or her unique strengths and challenges. <\/p>\n
At a cost of approximately $16.50 per student per day, a $3,000 grant would fund 184 LEAD sessions. With over 300 students served annually across 6 locations in Phoenix, Arizona, LEAD provides access to resources and tools that help these at-risk youth thrive.\n<\/p>\n
