Serving youth ages 7-18, the program focuses on neighborhoods disproportionately impacted by poverty and limited access to wealth-building opportunities.

Participants engage in weekly workshops that combine financial literacy, business formation education, branding development, and digital commerce training. Youth learn how to build credit, understand taxes, structure a business, develop pricing strategies, and create sustainable revenue models. The program emphasizes applied learning, ensuring that participants move beyond theory into actionable business development.

Local Black entrepreneurs and business leaders serve as guest facilitators and mentors, providing culturally relevant guidance and real-world insight. Through structured business labs, youth develop a formal business plan, financial projections, brand identity, and a professional pitch presentation.

The program culminates in a community Pitch Showcase event where participants present their business concepts to local leaders and supporters. Select youth receive small startup micro-grants to pilot their ventures, reinforcing the pathway from idea to income.

This initiative promotes economic empowerment and contributes to violence prevention by increasing positive adult mentorship, strengthening leadership skills, and expanding legal income opportunities. By equipping youth with practical tools for entrepreneurship and ownership, Urban Survival Club is building economic confidence, long-term resilience, and a stronger foundation for African American youth in Omaha.

Total Project Budget: 35000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Community Grants, Fundraising, Inkind

Project Duration: 12 week coherts
Geographical Area Served: North Omaha NE
Age Group To Be Served: 7-18

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms
Contact First Name: Erin
Contact Last Name: Forte
Contact Title: Assistant Director
Contact Phone: 4029152398
Contact Email: admin@uscomaha.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Urban Survival Club Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: PO Box 12072 City: Omaha State: NE Postal Code: 68112 Main Phone: 4029152398 Main Fax: Organization Website: www.uscomaha.org Employer ID Number: Organization Tax Status: 501c3 Proposal Information Today’s Date: 3/2/2026 Requested Amount: 10000 Project Title: […]

[3

post-9680","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
