Project Title: YOUTH Lead
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Youth and transitional aged girls, ages 11-21 will participate in a bi-weekly program called, \u201cYouth LEAD.\u201d This program targets girls who are in the justice involved or on track to becoming justice involved.<\/p>\n
Youth LEAD focuses on providing leadership development, counseling, case management, and mentorship. The girls will participate in workshops focused on leadership development, accountability, life skills, healthy relationships, civic engagement, financial literacy, self-care, and more. During the program they will attend social activities to develop a network of support among their peers, coordinate a service project, and coordinate a fundraising project donating half of the proceeds to an organization of their choosing. Towards the conclusion of the program, the girls will have an opportunity to transition into a leadership opportunity (school site council, an internship, city youth commission, etc.) as available.<\/p>\n
At the end of the program, the girls will have shown considerable improvements in their lives as indicated through evaluations; their actions; and progress reports by their counselor, case manager, teachers, parents, or school administration. They will transition into leadership positions in their group homes, schools, cities, and where other opportunities present themselves. They will have developed a network of support among their peers and reach out to them to provide encourage, receive support, and connect.<\/p>\n
Participation in the program is at no cost. Additionally, we will provide accommodations (ASL, closed captioning, large print, and language interpretation) for participants in need.<\/p>\n
