Kilometer Kids is Atlanta Track Club Foundation\u2019s free, game\u2011based running program for children ages five through twelve. Offered during both the fall and spring seasons, the program teaches the power of running, goal setting, healthy habits, and social\u2011emotional skills through fun, accessible activities.
\nKilometer Kids currently operates nearly 150 sites across Metro Atlanta, serving more than 6,000 children annually. Across each ten\u2011week season, participants work toward the milestone of completing 13.1 or 26.2 miles, building confidence and consistency one step at a time. A core strength of the program is its community\u2011based coaching model: coaches are intentionally recruited from the neighborhoods where the children live, ensuring mentorship from trusted adults already engaged in their community.
\nTo elevate program quality, Kilometer Kids recently completed a new 164\u2011page curriculum, which is available for the Hermanowski Foundation to review upon request. This updated curriculum strengthens the program\u2019s focus on youth development, physical literacy, and long\u2011term engagement.
\nAs a grant\u2011funded initiative, Kilometer Kids relies on philanthropic investment to remain free and accessible to all families. For the 2026\u20132027 program year, we seek support in three essential areas:
\nProgram Supplies \u2013 $4,000
\nEquipment such as wagons, pinnies, cones, and other materials needed for safe, engaging practices.
\nCoaching Support \u2013 $5,000
\nUniforms, whistles, and required resources for our volunteer coaches who deliver consistent, high\u2011quality programming.
\nElite Athlete Visits \u2013 $1,000
\nTravel stipends for elite runners who visit sites throughout the year to inspire and encourage young participants.
\nSupport from the Hermanowski Foundation would directly fuel access, inspiration, and community connection for thousands of young runners across Atlanta.<\/p>\n
