When school is out, many youth lose access to reliable daily nutrition and structured environments that support growth and learning. TPUR addresses this gap by providing consistent, nutritious breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals in safe, welcoming community spaces throughout the summer.

In Summer 2026, TPUR will operate neighborhood-based meal sites five days per week for six weeks, serving an estimated 150–250 unduplicated youth and providing approximately 2,000 nutritious meals across breakfast, lunch, and dinner service. Consistent access to healthy meals supports physical health, sustained energy, concentration, and emotional well-being—key factors that influence academic engagement and long-term success.

Beyond meeting immediate nutritional needs, TPUR integrates structured youth engagement and leadership opportunities. Older youth assist with meal service operations, hospitality, and peer support, building responsibility, teamwork, communication skills, and confidence. These hands-on experiences strengthen readiness for the upcoming school year and future employment.

By combining reliable nutrition, skill-building, and positive adult engagement, TPUR helps create the stability and supportive relationships children and young adults need to thrive and move toward achieving their full potential.

Total Project Budget: $32,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): (secured) Kroger – $3000, Kansas Health Foundation $5000 – Kansas Dept of Education – $7800 (potential) Clif Family Foundation – $11000

Project Duration: March 1, 2026 – February 27, 2026
Geographical Area Served: Wichita, KS
Age Group To Be Served: Ages 1 -18

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Sarah
Contact Last Name: Simister
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 6202630750
Contact Email: sarah@socialinnovationlab.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Social Innovation Lab Legal Name (if Different): Social Innovation Laboratory, Inc.
