The program bridges classroom knowledge with real-world application, giving students the tools and confidence to understand where food comes from, how it is produced, and how it can be preserved and utilized responsibly.
Through interactive workshops and live demonstrations, students gain experience in food production, preservation techniques such as canning, dehydration, and freeze-drying, nutrition education, and agricultural-based problem-solving. Participants learn how to grow food, reduce waste, improve household food resilience, and make informed nutritional choices. These experiences foster independence while strengthening awareness of local food systems and sustainable agricultural practices.
Beyond technical skills, Teach Them How cultivates leadership, critical thinking, teamwork, and workforce readiness. Students are challenged to think creatively about solutions to real-world challenges related to food access, sustainability, and community resilience. Exposure to agricultural science and agribusiness pathways also introduces potential career opportunities within the agricultural sector.
By empowering youth with tangible life skills and food literacy, the program nurtures informed food stewards and innovative thinkers who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Teach Them How is not just an educational event—it is a transformative experience that equips the next generation with the knowledge, confidence, and resilience needed to thrive in an evolving food system and economy.

Total Project Budget: 17898

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Justice Outside*(Commited) ACRE*(Commited)

Project Duration: 2027-2028
Geographical Area Served: Jenkinsville, SC
Age Group To Be Served: 4-21

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Selvbrea
Contact Last Name: Stone
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 803-873-5147
Contact Email: Selvbrea.Stone@gmail.com

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: SET IN STONE SUSTAINABILITY FARM Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: 111 Family Road Jenkinsville SC 29065 City: Jenkinsville State: SC Postal Code: 29065 Main Phone: 8038735147 Main Fax: Organization Website: SETINSTONESUSTAINABILITYFARM.org Employer ID Number: Organization Tax Status: 87-4177720 Proposal Information Today’s Date: 02/22/2026 […]

[3

post-9358","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
