Many of the girls we serve experience unresolved grief that impacts their confidence, academic engagement, and emotional regulation. Yet preventative, relationship-centered programming for girls coping with father loss remains scarce.

The program provides a 6-week healing cohort model that combines guided journaling, facilitated discussion circles, creative expression (art and movement), and mentorship. Each cohort is led by trained facilitators and supported by community volunteers who model healthy adult relationships. Girls learn tools for emotional processing, communication, identity development, and resilience.

Hermanowski Foundation funding would directly support two 6-week cohorts serving 60 girls annually, including curriculum materials, journals, facilitator stipends, space rental, evaluation tools, and scholarships for low- to moderate-income participants.

Measurable outcomes include:
Increased emotional literacy and coping skills
Improved self-reported confidence and sense of belonging
Strengthened communication within the home
At the Him & Me Foundation, we believe every girl deserves to feel protected, loved, and worthy — through the power of presence. Girls Who Grieve moves beyond one-day inspiration to sustained healing support. By addressing grief early, we reduce long-term mental health risks and strengthen the relational stability of the home.

This project is preventative youth mental health intervention rooted in connection, dignity, and long-term impact.

Total Project Budget: 22,500

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Committed: Individual donor contributions (annual giving campaign) Program registration fees (sliding scale model) Board member contributions In-kind space support from community partners Potential: Corporate sponsorships aligned with youth mental health initiatives Local family foundations supporting girls’ wellness Community fundraising events Additional small private foundation grants The Hermanowski Foundation request will represent a defined portion of the overall program cost and will directly underwrite two 6-week cohorts serving 60 girls.

Project Duration: January 2027 – December 2027 Two 6-week cohorts will run within the grant year, with planning, recruitment, evaluation, and reporting completed within the same funding cycle to align with the Foundation’s one-year funding requirement.
Geographical Area Served: Northeast Ohio, with primary service in the Greater Cleveland area.
Age Group To Be Served: Girls ages 8-17 This project specifically focuses on youth navigating father absence and relational grief during critical developmental years.

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs.
Contact First Name: Latoyia
Contact Last Name: Lewis
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 2167779771
Contact Email: latoyia@himandmefoundation.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Him & Me Foundation Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: 4817 Lindsey Oval City: Richmond Heights State: Ohio Postal Code: 44143 Main Phone: 2167779771 Main Fax: Organization Website: www.himandmefoundation.org Employer ID Number: 45-5565932 Organization Tax Status: 501c3 Proposal Information Today’s Date: 2/21/2026 Requested Amount: […]

[3

post-9330","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
