Many lack access to culturally appropriate hair care and positive self-image development, which can negatively impact school engagement, peer relationships, and mental well-being.

Dream It! provides professional hair makeovers and grooming services delivered by licensed stylists who understand diverse hair textures and needs. For many youth, this is their first experience receiving consistent, affirming personal care. These services restore dignity, boost confidence, and create a sense of normalcy during uncertain transitions.

Build It! complements these services with structured confidence-building workshops focused on hygiene education, communication skills, emotional resilience, and self-identity development. Youth participate in guided discussions and activities that promote healthy self-perception and long-term personal growth.

In 2026, Hopeful Hair aims to directly serve more than 150 foster youth ages 5–18. Grant funding will support stylist stipends, culturally appropriate hair care supplies, workshop materials, and program delivery costs.

By investing in early confidence formation and emotional wellness, this project helps transform the lives of vulnerable children—equipping them with the tools to look good, feel good, and ultimately do good.

Total Project Budget: $25,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Individual donations; Community fundraising events; Pending foundation grant applications

Project Duration: One year (January – December 2026)
Geographical Area Served: Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, Florida
Age Group To Be Served: Children and youth ages 5–18 (up to 21 as eligible)

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Christi
Contact Last Name: Lee
Contact Title: Grant & Funding Coordinator
Contact Phone: 786-925-8773
Contact Email: Funding@hopefulhair.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Hopeful Hair Inc.
