Through this program, mentors are matched with foster youth to develop life and job skills to prepare them for independent living to include obtaining a driver’s license and bank account, obtaining a high school diploma and enrolling in some form of higher education, trade school, or branch of service. The focus is on building life skills and developing healthy adult relationships and role models to help prepare youth for aging out of care. Before being matched with a youth, mentors complete trauma informed training to build and support relationships with youth who have experienced trauma. Mentors meet with youth, at minimum, twice a month and work through our Dare to Dream manual as a guide for building rapport, engaging in activities, while also developing important life skills. The manual consists of ten milestones: building rapport, personal/professional goals, support systems/healthy relationships, physical fitness/meal prep, driver’s license, sex education/internet safety, interview/resume skills, money management/budget planning, college, trade school, or military, and finally, living arrangements. The manual also includes two extra milestones – self-esteem and public transportation. Each milestone includes a goal and application offering ideas for ways to achieve each goal. Case managers track progress in completing milestones, which will lead to the short-term goals of obtaining a driver’s license, discussing career plans, opening a bank account and knowledge about renting an apartment/living alone. Expected long term outcomes include gaining a sense of normalcy, a decrease in behavioral issues, placement stability, academic progress, independent living skills and relational permanency.

In addition to mentorship services received through the Dare to Dream program, youth can receive funding to help cover costs associated with life and job skills. Funds can be used toward driver’s education, driver’s license fees, tutoring, car insurance, first month’s rent, professional wardrobe, etc. These expenses are a hurdle for many youth aging out of care but are necessary for a successful transition to independent living. Receiving funds through the Dare to Dream program can alleviate this hurdle, increasing their ability to reach occupational goals and secure stable housing.

Total Project Budget: $105,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Funding Sources • Angel Alliance members – a group of monthly donors (individuals) • Leadership Worth Following – corporation (monthly giving and event sponsorships) • Lennar Homes – corporation (3 year commitment to fund us each year) ($30,000 per year) (2024-2026) • Bill and Leah Almquist – private donations and stocks • AOI Institute – grant funding ($90,000 in 2024) ($1,000 in 2025) DFW Angels 2025 Revenue Breakdown • Fundraising events make up 60% • Grants make up 15% • Individual donors make up 25% Our mission is sustained through two core annual fundraising events—a golf tournament and our fall gala—with 100% of proceeds directly supporting our programs for children, youth, and families in foster care.

Project Duration: January 1-December 31, 2027
Geographical Area Served: Geographic Communities Served All of DFPS Region 3 which are the following counties: Collin Cooke Dallas Denton Ellis Erath Fannin Grayson Hood Hunt Johnson Kaufman Navarro Palo Parker Rockwall Somervell Tarrant Wise
Age Group To Be Served: Birth to 21 years

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Stephanie
Contact Last Name: Rampone
Contact Title: Director of Development
Contact Phone: 817-247-5216
Contact Email: stephanie@dfwangels.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: DFW Angels Legal Name (if Different): Transformations by Dallas – Ft.
