Founded in 1976, we have a nearly 50-year track record of delivering high-quality, evidence-based programs that empower girls to grow up healthy, educated, and independent. Our vision is a world in which every girl values her whole self, discovers her inherent strengths, and achieves her full potential — a society where all girls have equal opportunities to succeed in their education, careers, and lives.
We serve girls ages 5–14 in Knox, Blount, and Anderson Counties through programming delivered at our main center, in schools, and in partnership with community organizations. Our participants represent a highly vulnerable population facing multiple, intersecting challenges: 52% identify as minorities, 53% come from households earning under $40,000 annually, 61% qualify for free or reduced school meals, and 81% of families require financial assistance to participate in our programs at all. Without that aid, 8 in 10 families simply could not afford to enroll their daughters. Seventy percent of our participants come from female-headed households, and 49% are being raised by single mothers alone — meaning Girls Inc. often serves as a critical safety net for working mothers who need safe, supportive, enriching care for their daughters. Additionally, 32% of our participants have identified medical, behavioral, or learning needs, requiring individualized support and trauma-informed approaches.

Total Project Budget: $5,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential):

Project Duration: One Year
Geographical Area Served: East TN
Age Group To Be Served: 5-14

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Amanda
Contact Last Name: Ingle
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 865-482-4475
Contact Email: operations@girlsinctnv.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Girls Incorporated of Tennessee Valley Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Girls Inc.
