Gabriel\u2019s House (GH) is a Christian based (non-denominational) afterschool program that offers parents\/guardians of at risk PreK-5th graders a safe, loving and nurturing afterschool environment for their children. Enrichment opportunities and activities offered encourage healthy mental, physical and spiritual growth in the children we serve in Duncan, Comanche and Empire. Admission to Gabriel\u2019s House is based on need.
\nGH has served children who are on the spectrum, dyslexic, parents speak another language, single parent household, parent(s) incarcerated, in the foster care system, raised by grandparents and on political asylum.
\nDuring the school year, the children are fed a snack and dinner every night, but what about those children during the summer? Some do without food and have no supervision which leads to risky behaviors. For some of the children, GH is a safe haven from home. Because of the safety and welfare of the children are of upmost importance, GH will offer a new summer program where these needs can be met. Children will be fed lunch and a snack daily. Some children will not have transportation, therefore, GH will team up with local churches to supply rides to and from home. Churches will also sponsor a week of activities like Bible School. The children would have weekly field trips such as to the splash pad, museum, park, etc. They would also get art lessons, cardio drumming, cooking classes and other enrichment activities. Staff who work during the school year would be utilized in this program keeping the only consistency some have in their lives.\n<\/p>\n
