Project Title: STEM Through Literature Program

Inspired By Science LLC proposes the program STEM Through Literature. This program will merge STEM education with literature in forms of stories, videos, hands on experiments, and custom made student workbooks to fit the lessons. Coordinated, multi-subject learning has been shown to enhance students\u2019 academic retention as well as to increase student engagement. Learning from the mix of STEM and literature gives us the opportunity of reaching a lot of students in a new, creative and exciting way!<\/p>\n
In an effort to expand our reach throughout Michigan, we have partnered with a fiscal sponsor, Givinga Foundation, to manage the non-profit budget for this proposal. This will help us to eliminate limited school budgets preventing underprivileged students the opportunity for a hands-on STEM experience.<\/p>\n
STEM Through Literature hands-on kits are designed to make learning both fun and accessible for students and teachers alike. These kits include a variety of engaging materials, such as 48 different training videos for the teachers, supplies for multiple STEM activities, kid-friendly handouts with illustrations, and electronic video lessons that guide students step by step through each activity. Over the past five years of supplying STEM Through Literature kits to schools in Wayne County MI, more than 20,000 children have been positively impacted by these innovative STEM kits, and as we continue to expand our efforts, our goal is to reach an even greater number of young minds each year.<\/p>\n
This grant would specifically target underfunded and underprivileged schools to provide learning opportunities at no cost to the schools or students. We have a Letter of Inquiry ready to send out to nearby schools if we receive the funding.<\/p>\n
