For many, their transition to adulthood and economic self-sufficiency can be abrupt. This disrupts all aspects of their life.

Statistics show nationally, 50% of the homeless population spent time in foster care and that 2-out-3 youth will end up in jail, homeless or dead after aging out of the foster care system within two years. In Arizona, nearly 85% of Arizona’s aged out foster youth struggle to find stable housing. As a result, many youth find themselves homeless or in the process of becoming homeless. That is where Foster Arizona’s Housing Project steps in and helps create a path to self-sufficiency for each of them.

Foster Arizona Housing Project provides homeless youth in our community with transitional housing, basic provisions and life sufficiency skills for those aging out of foster care. The program partners with Keys to Success for supplementary support for mentors, opportunities for growth and learning, educational opportunities, ongoing career exploration and development to aide in housing participants personal and financial stability and self-sufficiency.

A gracious $5,000 grant from the Hermanowski Family Foundation would be used to provide basic provisions, life sufficiency skills trainings and help supplement youths’ housing bills (electricity, water and rent).

Total Project Budget: $140,800

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Committed – $16,800 (Program Participant Fees); Pending – $30,000 (Arizona Women’s Partnership, Inc., Bank of America, IRONMAN Foundation, Sunstate Equipment Foundation, John F.
