Project Title: The Solomon Leadership Program
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
The Solomon Leadership Program is a yearlong leadership and character development experience for high school juniors and seniors. Through twelve two hour sessions, students study core leadership principles and participate in guided discussions with accomplished community professionals who volunteer as mentors and guest speakers. After completing the program, fellows graduate and receive three college credits through our partnership with Palm Beach Atlantic University.<\/p>\n
The curriculum is taught through the Socratic method, encouraging independent thinking and ethical decision making. Developed with academic oversight from Palm Beach Atlantic University, it is refined annually and uses real life stories to explore leadership through eight Pillars which include character, tolerance, communication, vision, empowerment, persistence, strategy and judgment. Fellows read articles, watch curated talks and examine real scenarios faced by leaders, applying these lessons to their own experiences.<\/p>\n
Independent Study prepares fellows through textbook modules and online homework submitted before each session. Guest Speaker presentations feature leaders from fields such as business, law, medicine, education and government who share how they apply each leadership pillar in their work. Mentor Discussions follow, where small groups meet with volunteer mentors who guide reflection and help fellows connect each concept to real situations in their lives. <\/p>\n
This intergenerational model builds leadership ability and strengthens community connection. Fellows grow in character, confidence and purpose as they learn to lead thoughtfully and ethically.<\/p>\n
In Florida, the program currently operates two chapters in Palm Beach County, one at Palm Beach Synagogue and another in partnership with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, and six additional chapters across South Florida, including Aventura, Bal Harbour, Fort Lauderdale, Parkland, Miami Beach, and Sunny Isles. These partnerships ensure cultural inclusivity and direct access to all students, including those from Title I and underserved communities. Currently, 130 students are enrolled, with plans to expand to approximately 200 next year with additional funding.<\/p>\n
