These rides are more than just recreation—they’re powerful tools for building resilience, confidence, and independence as youth set goals, overcome challenges, and discover their own strength. Along the way, participants develop critical life skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, all in a safe, supportive outdoor environment. For many, it’s their first time exploring natural spaces or riding beyond their neighborhood, expanding their sense of self, place, and possibility.

Since 2000, the Youth Ride program has been at the heart of our mission, engaging over 500 youth each year with free, transformative cycling experiences paired with bike safety education. After 25 years and thousands of miles ridden, our Ride Program Fleet bikes are at the end of their journey. We’ve kept them rolling as long as we could, but now it’s time to retire them responsibly through metal recycling.

With support from this grant, we’ll purchase 20 new fleet bikes—ensuring our Youth Ride program can continue to deliver joy, skill-building, and life-changing outdoor experiences to the next generation of riders.

Total Project Budget: 10,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Grassroots community fundraising campaign

Project Duration: 2026-2027 Ride Program Season- March through October.
Geographical Area Served: Urban youth in Charlotte, NC
Age Group To Be Served: 9-16

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.):
Contact First Name: Joy
Contact Last Name: Thoma
Contact Title: Program Director
Contact Phone: 860-204-7900
Contact Email: joyt@tripsforkidscharlotte.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Trips for Kids Charlotte Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: 812 Atando Ave. City: Charlotte State: NC Postal Code: 28206 Main Phone: 704-910-3970 Main Fax: Organization Website: www.tripsforkidscharlotte.org Employer ID Number: 56-2212160 Organization Tax Status: 501c3 Non-Profit Proposal Information Today’s Date: 8/4/25 Requested Amount: […]

[3

post-8587","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
