Hermanowski
Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation
President
Post Office Box 810005
Boca Raton, Florida 33481-0005

Dear Mr. Hermanowski,

In my role with Freedom in Education as the Chief Development officer for this past 12 months I have been making connections with philanthropic organizations to this worthy new start up. As I studied the foundation’s website, I was intrigued by the mission of so many of your grantees in 2024. The themes of children, granting them access to opportunities, education, even a chance to enjoy a horseback ride experience. It is my conviction that my organization might be a fit for some of the giving priorities of the foundation.

At Freedom in Education, we want to change the way children learn, the methods by which teachers instruct, and how parents can become engaged. What makes our mission so important? Despite historic levels of educational spending in the United States, student achievement in core subjects continues to decline. Only 1 in 3 eighth graders are proficient in reading or math. We believe our educational systems can do better.

On behalf of Freedom in Education, I respectfully request a grant of $5,000 in support of our national THRIVE! Campaign—a bold, three-year, $10 million initiative to reimagine K–12 education across the United States.
Freedom in Education is currently engaging with the State Education Departments in Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia to enhance learning in the classroom, school choice, and parental transparency. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every child deserves an excellent education—grounded in knowledge, virtue, effective teaching methods, and guided by well-informed, engaged parents.
We exist to:
– Enhance learning in the classroom
– Strengthen educational freedom
– Ensure parents are educated to become better advocates for their children

Your grant of $5,000 would directly support:
– The expansion of our work into new states
– Advancing content-rich academic standards and aligned professional development
– Designing robust knowledge-based curricula grounded in our model standards
– Strengthening educational freedom through state-level partnerships
– Equipping parents with sophisticated tools to navigate their child’s education
– Engaging more teachers in common-sense effective classroom solutions.
At the heart of our work is a deep commitment to children—especially those in underserved communities. With your support, we will move closer to a future in which:
– Proficiency rates in reading and math will be doubled
– Parents are equipped to advocate boldly for their children
– Teachers are supported with evidence-based instructional methods
– States and districts are held accountable for student outcomes

Thank you for considering this request. I would welcome the opportunity to provide more information or answer any questions.
I’d like to invite The Charles and Anne Hermanowski foundation to join us in making a significant difference in how children grow and learn.

Sincerely,

Stephen N.
