\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Not having a birth certificate and IDs Is a barrier when unhoused. Being undocumented makes it harder for community members to end their unhoused status. These Documents are important for jobs, housing, education, childcare, medical services and other resources.
\nWe look to provide a crucial service for unhoused community members that are working to rebuild their lives. It has become a common issue within the unhoused to replace lost or stolen identification documents.
\nThe program looks to support community members who may have experienced domestic violence, forced eviction\/ lockouts or a significant catastrophic event. We also look to support Transitional Youth who might be aging out of foster care.
\nHaving an ID is crucial for employment and obtaining a stable income. It is also important when trying to get housing and signing a lease. For Unhoused Community members with children it is necessary for education, when enrolling them into school. Also when trying to access medical care and social services.
\nThe program provides two services; replacement identification documents and secure document storage.
\nFor the replacement identification documents we assist unhoused community members in obtaining at no cost to them, replacement identification documents like birth certificates and other supporting documents.
\nWe also help our unhoused community members prevent loss, theft, or destruction of identification documents by storing them safe with us\n<\/p>\n
