The Healthy & Thriving Initiative: Black Girls Thriving places the lived experiences of Black women and girls at its center. Integral to its design are the stories of Black girls and women who have experienced invisibility, dismissive treatment, racism, adultification, and criminalization that have been a detriment to their mental health. Our framework acknowledges the historical realities of existing in the Black female body and the challenges to accessing proper care within the healthcare infrastructure. PAAACT\u2019s partner HerstoryisMine is a Black female-led organization that uses culturally affirming research and education to design curriculum that strategically addresses wellness for Black women and girls through the creation of ecosystems of care. Herstoryismine\u2019s organizational model centers on the lived experiences of the communities we serve. We are consistently employing data-driven and evidence-based methods to inform our practices. We host regular listening sessions to bring stakeholders, women, and girls together to discuss salient health issues, challenges, and needs in the community.\n<\/p>\n
