Project Title: Youth Crisis Services at Mary’s Place
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Mary\u2019s Place: Sexual Assault Center of the Coastal Empire respectfully requests $10,000 to support our youth crisis services and prevention education programs, which are vital to protecting and empowering young people across our region.<\/p>\n
In 2024, we served over 20,000 youth under the age of 21 through school- and community-based prevention education. These interactive, age-appropriate sessions focus on recognizing the signs of abuse, setting healthy boundaries, and understanding how to seek help\u2014critical knowledge that equips youth to protect themselves and others. Our prevention team works closely with schools, parents, and youth-serving organizations to ensure that this education reaches those most at risk.<\/p>\n
In addition to prevention efforts, Mary\u2019s Place provides comprehensive crisis services to children who have already experienced sexual abuse or assault. In 2024, our in-house center served 52 children under the age of 17\u2014some as young as 14 months\u2014with trauma-informed forensic medical exams conducted by trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE). Each child also received access to follow-up care, including trauma counseling, family support, case management, and emergency financial assistance.<\/p>\n
A $10,000 grant will directly support both prevention and crisis services by funding outreach materials, education program delivery, medical supplies, and immediate support for children and families in crisis. Your support ensures that youth in our community not only receive timely intervention after trauma, but also the tools and knowledge to prevent it from happening in the first place.<\/p>\n
