BYSC\u2019s mission and goal prioritizes the distribution of quality sports-based programs & unique experiences for youth with limited access, especially those with special needs. Responding to parental feedback, the Plus program was created to address the exclusion of these children from conventional sports and experiential opportunities. If it weren\u2019t for these types of initiatives, these children would face increased social isolation, limited physical activity, plus decreased opportunities for personal growth. <\/p>\n
High obesity rates are consistently reported among youth with disabilities which is often linked to conditions like depression plus low self-esteem; directly impacts the family of the youth and young adults from this community. These findings led to the creation of the BYSC Plus programs offering adaptive multi-sports activities and monthly events to combat the challenges special needs families experience with their youth. These events, from bowling to Broadway shows. BYSC’s Plus program is recognized as a leader in Westchester, bridging critical service gaps for special needs youth.<\/p>\n
Backyard Sports Cares’ Plus Adaptive programs bridge the critical service gaps facing the special needs community through the facilitation of sports & recreation as well as unique experiences & events. The Plus program nurtures inclusion and a sense of community through adaptive sports and unique experiences. The goal is to create a supportive environment where individuals can connect through their shared challenges while creating new memories and experiences via sports.\n<\/p>\n
