Dear Grant Committee,
\nMy name is Elizabeth Cohn, and I am the Choir Director and Music Teacher at Echo Horizon School. We serve PK-6th grade students, many of whom are part of the deaf and hard of hearing population, as well as students with special needs.
\nTwo years ago, I founded a choir, The Echo Singers, that currently includes 28 singers, six of whom are deaf and wear cochlear implants. Our choir represents 4th-6th grade students from diverse backgrounds, including a variety of races, religions, and cultures. We are an inclusive and diverse group that sings in multiple languages and across various genres.
\nIn May 2024, we entered a choral competition and earned a national gold ranking. After receiving this prestigious honor, we were invited to submit a recording to perform at Carnegie Hall. We submitted our recording and were accepted!
\nThe Echo Singers are invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in April 2026, marking a historic milestone for our school and the deaf and hard of hearing community. We are tremendously grateful for this opportunity and are seeking your support to help us achieve this goal. We are applying for this grant because we believe it aligns with our mission. Thank you for your consideration and support in helping us get to Carnegie Hall!
