Project Title: Catalyst Leadership Academy 2026 Cohort
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Catalyst Youth Network seeks a $10,000 grant to expand its Catalyst Leadership Academy, a yearlong initiative designed to empower youth ages 14\u201318 in Oakland who are furthest from traditional support systems.<\/p>\n
The Leadership Academy helps high school students develop confidence, purpose, and the tools to lead in their schools and communities. Through weekly peer cohorts, guided self-reflection, hands-on projects, and volunteer-led workshops, students gain experience in communication, teamwork, goal setting, and emotional intelligence. The program also includes college and career readiness support, such as resume coaching, mock interviews, and career exploration activities.<\/p>\n
This grant will enable us to expand the Leadership Academy to serve 15 additional students in 2026, with funds used for:
\n\u2022 Program materials (journals, project supplies, career readiness kits)
\n\u2022 Leadership retreat transportation and meals
\n\u2022 Healthy snacks and bus passes for weekly sessions
\n\u2022 Youth stipends for completing capstone leadership projects<\/p>\n
Each participant will complete a student-led capstone project that serves their school or neighborhood\u2014turning leadership skills into real-world impact. These projects build civic engagement and show students they have the power to create change.<\/p>\n
The Academy is volunteer-facilitated by trained mentors, community leaders, and alumni, and is offered at no cost to students. For many, it\u2019s the first time they\u2019ve been recognized as leaders.<\/p>\n
We seek to transform the lives of children and young adults by giving them access to tools, relationships, and opportunities that help them grow into their full potential.<\/p>\n
