Unicorn Village Academy, UVA, is a Complete Educational Experience, serving middle and high school students with neurodiversities. UVA is designed with the necessary built-in supports for students unable to succeed in a \u2018typical\u2019 school setting. Programs offered include: Upper Middle & High school, providing individualized academic support preparing students for either 24-credit ACCESS Option or Standard Diploma; and a Pre-employment & Transition Program, preparing students for employment by providing opportunities for career exploration and interests in the local community, and college experiences. The focus of UVA programs is to prepare students for adult life with a multi-dimensional curriculum providing training in Life skills, Pre-employment skills & Academics. The curriculums encourage independence, self-advocacy, and preparation for life. <\/p>\n
Unfortunately, many families cannot afford tuition and, left without options, will keep their child in public school. Sadly, this often results in a regression of skills and abilities, further limiting opportunities to succeed. Every day that passes is a day lost for these children. <\/p>\n
Recent funds received from the Hermanowski Family Foundation have enabled UVA to enroll a student who had lost two years in the public school system. Within one month there were significant changes in his abilities both socially and academically. This student is now successfully completing credits towards his high school diploma and is also participating in several community pre-employment programs. <\/p>\n
UVA is a program for those in need. It should be available to all regardless of financial status. It is our hope that this Special Need Scholarship will continue to provide many opportunities for students.<\/p>\n
Upon completion of the project, UVA will provide a statement indicating how the funds were spent in alignment with grant request.\n<\/p>\n
