His Haven Inc. is seeking $6,000 in funding to support and expand our Metro Kids program, a comprehensive initiative designed to empower at-risk youth in Elmira’s low-income communities. Operating from our Woodlawn Court Community Center for the past 4 years we are currently moving to a new building, Metro Kids serves children from birth to 18 years old, providing a safe haven and essential resources to break the cycle of poverty.<\/p>\n
Our program offers a multifaceted approach to child development, including:<\/p>\n
1. Educational Support: After-school programs and holiday activities to enhance learning and academic performance.
\n2. Nutritional Assistance: Free meals and participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to ensure proper nutrition.
\n3. Social-Emotional Development: Guidance and support to build resilience and positive behaviors.
\n4. Basic Needs Provision: Distribution of clothing, school supplies, and other essentials through initiatives like our Back to School Clothing Drop and Coat Drop.
\n5. Financial Literacy: Innovative programs like the $tacks Conduct Incentive Program teach children about healthy behavioral choices and financial skills.
\n6. Community Engagement: The Kids Farmers Market allows children to actively participate in running a market and selecting fresh produce for their families.
\n7. Fostering Generosity: Our unique "Under the Tree From Me" program enables children to experience the joy of giving during the holiday season.<\/p>\n
Since its inception in Summer 2022, Metro Kids has seen steady growth in participation. We are now preparing to move into a larger facility to accommodate this growth and expand our programming. With your support, we aim to reach more at-risk youth, providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to achieve their full potential and create thriving communities.<\/p>\n
