Project Title: Stable Moments at HHH Ranch

The Stable Moments Program is a trauma-informed mentorship initiative designed for children and youth up to age 22 who are in foster care, have recently phased out of foster care, or have been adopted. <\/p>\n
For children who have been adopted or placed in foster care, life often presents unique and difficult challenges. Children come into foster care due to abuse, abandonment or neglect and are at a higher risk of becoming incarcerated, pregnant, addicted to drugs, and dependents of state benefits. Without addressing their complex trauma needs, these children often repeat the cycle of their parents, and their children enter the system as well.<\/p>\n
Over 400,000 kids are in foster care without a permanent place to live, and 70% of them have Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder\u2014affecting their adaptive behavior, attention, cognition, executive functioning, and memory. The instability of their home life, coupled with past traumas and potential health challenges, often leaves them ill-prepared to develop essential life skills for a successful transition into adulthood. Tragically, 1 in 4 foster youth will be incarcerated in their lifetime, and 80% of current inmates have experienced foster care.<\/p>\n
The Stable Moments program provides structured, trauma-informed one-on-one mentorship experience on a month-to-month basis, with a recommended commitment of at least one year (48 weeks in the calendar week), to fill critical gaps in early intervention services while helping participants develop essential life skills through equine and non-equine activities. Each participant is paired with a certified mentor who tailors a customized plan based on the participant\u2019s strengths and developmental needs. Through consistent, supportive relationships and engaging activities, the program fosters self-worth, emotional regulation, independence, and healthy relationships\u2014helping participants build confidence and stability in a nurturing environment. Ultimately, the program equips participants with the skills and resilience needed to thrive into adulthood.<\/p>\n
