A pediatric cancer diagnosis brings not only physical challenges, but also emotional and psychological hardship for both the patient and their family. Isolation, pain, and treatment-related side effects can lead to anxiety, depression, cognitive decline, and a sense of disconnection.

While clinical teams focus on treating the disease, Kids & Art fills a critical gap in care by supporting the emotional well-being of pediatric cancer patients. Our art-based programs provide young patients and their families with meaningful opportunities to create, connect, and express themselves—reminding them that they are more than their diagnosis.

Kids & Art’s Amaeyzing ArtKits Program delivers all-in-one, process-based art experiences to more than 20 hospital partners nationwide. Each ArtKit includes materials, written instructions, and QR codes linking to pre-recorded video tutorials led by professional teaching artists. These kits are distributed to patients in hospital waiting rooms, infusion centers, and in-patient rooms—making it possible to engage in creative expression during treatment, while traveling, or at home in isolation.

ArtKits are intentionally designed to meet the developmental, emotional, and psychosocial needs of pediatric oncology patients. Projects focus on process over product, encouraging exploration, experimentation, and emotional release through art. Whether used independently or as a shared family activity, ArtKits create moments of relief, joy, and self-discovery in even the most challenging settings.

Our ultimate goal is to help each child feel seen—not just as a patient, but as an artist, an individual, and a whole person. By removing financial, social, and geographic barriers to participation, Kids & Art ensures equitable access to healing through creativity. Every kit is offered free of charge, making them a sustainable and inclusive tool for emotional support across diverse patient populations.

Through the transformative power of art, Kids & Art brings light, imagination, and connection to children facing some of life’s most difficult moments—helping them reframe their identity, reclaim their voice, and rediscover their spark

Total Project Budget: $298,076

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Pending Palo Alto Community Foundation – $20,000 Brees Dream – $10,000 Teichert Foundation – $7,500 Tony Robbins Foundation – $50,000 Confirmed Inner Sunset Community Advocates – $10,000 San Mateo Arts Commission – $4,500 Harbor Point Charitable Fund – $5,000

Project Duration: One year
Geographical Area Served: We partner with Care Centers serving pediatric cancer patients across the country, with a specific focus on medically underserved and low-income communities.
