The Boca Raton Children\u2019s Museum exists to broaden children\u2019s awareness of the world around them and teach them how to problem solve through creative and scientific exploration. It is a place that is preserving the \u201cpower of play\u201d for our children in one of the oldest historical cottages in our community.<\/p>\n
Experts in education all agree that there is a need for \u201cplay\u201d and its influence on science, technology engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). It has been proven that exposure in these areas improves children\u2019s ability to read and comprehend. We know there\u2019s a gap in our educational systems ability to offer innovative and experiential learning opportunities especially for children coming from low income families. Many of our Museum patrons are defined by United Way as ALICE families, (Asset, Limited, Constrained, Income, Employed). They live pay check to pay check, and are one flat tire or one serious illness away from crisis. The Museum is a place that they can access the enrichment opportunities their children need to keep up with their peers. <\/p>\n
At the Children\u2019s Museum, children are encouraged to be active and interactive, utilizing their imaginations to try new things. The exhibits and activities tap into children\u2019s natural curiosity and gives them ample chances to be participants in their own learning. It offers children almost unlimited ways to explore and investigate new skills creating a solid foundation for future learning. The Museum\u2019s goal is to enhance exhibits to expose children to real life experiences. Let’s not wait another day to provide young children the opportunity they need to become tomorrow\u2019s leaders. We are requesting $10,000 to enhance our exhibits and STEAM programming for children who need it most.\n<\/p>\n
