Recognized nationally for its innovative music-based outreach, mentorship, and social justice programs, GreenSpring serves students and families throughout the Richmond region, focusing on the City of Richmond. Combining top-tier music instruction with dynamic community engagement, GreenSpring currently serves 376 students and has 4,000+ alumni, many of whom have received full scholarships to leading conservatories and universities. Through its commitment to artistic excellence and accessibility, GreenSpring continues to use music as a catalyst for personal growth, social change, and a more just and equitable world.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, GreenSpring\u2019s Music Education, Performance and Outreach Programs encompass:<br \/>\n1. Year-round, seven-day-a-week music education programming, offering one-on-one and group music lessons, classes, workshops, summer camps, rehearsals, and performance opportunities. Performing groups include the American Youth Harp Ensemble, GreenSpring Chamber Music Ensembles, and Virginia Choristers.<br \/>\n2. Tuition-free music education programs- Sound Experiences and the Harp Therapy Outreach Program- that provide multi-day-a-week music education outreach programming in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Resources for Independent Living Center (a transitioning facility for youth with disabilities) serving 200+ students yearly. Scholarships are valued at $550 per student per year.<br \/>\n3. Free instrument loan program to address the need gap for students. We currently have 72 instruments (including piano, guitar, violin, and harp) on loan.<br \/>\n4. 50+ free performances annually<br \/>\nPlanning, rehearsing, and preparing for the core season concerts. As an example, the 2025- 2026 season includes many free public concerts, including E Pluribus Unum, Celtic Celebration, Spring Serenade, Classical Jam, Music Feeds RVA (benefitting the food bank), Rising Stars, holiday concerts, and solo recital concerts.<br \/>\n5. Local, national, and international tours.<\/p>\n<p>Total Project Budget: $400,000<\/p>\n<p>Other Funding <br \/>\nSources For The Project (Committed &amp; Potential): Other Funding: GreenSpring receives income through a wide variety of funding streams. We are grateful to have support from individual, government, business, and foundation donors such as the Virginia Commission for the Arts, The Community Foundation, and CultureWorks, who consistently support our organization. To ensure sustainability, we prioritize maintaining strong relationships with existing funders while continuously conducting prospect research and submitting applications to secure new funding opportunities and sustain diverse revenue streams annually.
