As Milagro Center’s flagship program, STARS (Standing Together Achieving Recognition and Success) serves over 50 children (grades K-5) throughout the year and serves as the model for our Middle School and High School Programs. Nationally accredited through Council on Accreditation and Gold Seal approved by the Florida Department of Health, Milagro Center’s unique model of small class sizes allows the focus to be on the students by providing individualized attention and addressing specific needs as they arise. Students are transported to our Center by school bus from local Delray Beach and southern Boynton Beach elementary schools. The Center is open daily from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on school days and from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. during summer, winter, and spring breaks, as well as most days that schools are closed for holidays and teacher work days. The program design includes academic support classes, individual tutoring, cultural arts education, Living Values education, and one-on-one mentoring.

Milagro Center’s greatest accomplishment is the fact that we have achieved a 98-100% annual grade promotion among our students for the past five years in a row, in contrast to the average graduation rate of 60% in this community. Class and individual tutoring by certified teachers and homework assistance keeps children on track in school. Cultural arts education gives them freedom and opportunity for self-exploration and self-expression, which develops their individual creativity, their problem solving skills, and builds confidence and self-esteem. The United Nations’ Living Values curriculum we incorporate into our everyday programming helps children develop key personal and social characteristics, including personal responsibility and commitment to community service. We carefully match the children with adult mentors; the resulting relationships have a life-long positive impact on them.

Total Project Budget: $301,857.45

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Recently committed and/or still within a current funding cycle: Albert E. & Birdie W.
