This neglect often results from crises such as homelessness, unemployment, mental health issues, substance misuse, and isolation. As a result, parents often struggle to care for their children, leading to conflicts and increasing the likelihood of state intervention. Children in foster care often experience traumatic events, including sibling separation, loss of sense of belonging, and instability. Better Together offers a preventative solution, through community-driven programs, Better Families and Better Jobs.

Rather than being involved with foster care, Better Together engages families through its Better Families program. This program is tailored to support each family’s unique needs. Children are cared for by compassionate volunteer host families who are screened, vetted and properly trained. This approach provides stability during turbulent times by allowing children to remain in their school and activities, and maintain crucial relationships with their parents and peers. During this time, parents are supported by mentors who help them navigate challenges by offering moral support, providing clear guidance, and building meaningful connections.

Since its founding in 2015, Better Together has served over 15,000 children across Florida, with a 98% success rate in keeping families together. Better Together values strong partnerships and is eager to collaborate with the Hermanowski Family Foundation in its mission to transform the lives of children and young adults across the United States. Your support is essential for Better Together to expand its reach, serve more families in need, and make a greater impact, ensuring that no family struggles alone.

Total Project Budget: 9,467,551.37

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Better Together is entirely funded by private sources, including foundations, individual donors, donor-advised funds, churches, companies, and in-kind contributors.
