Project Title: Technology Upgrades for Lucy Daniels Center (LDC)
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
LDC has three main prongs to our work: Lucy Daniles Therapy; Lucy Daniels School; and Lucy Daniels Outreach. The therapy clinic accepts all major forms of insurance and currently over 50% of our caseload is Medicaid; the school typically has 20-30 students each year and provides small class sizes, appropriate instruction, and daily therapy for pre-K-Grade 5 students who struggle to thrive in a typical classroom setting; and outreach programs include professional development for early childhood educators, parenting programs, student assessments, and social skills programs for young children.
\nLDC needs to replace aging SmartBoards, tablets, and other technology that our students and patients use as part of their education and therapeutic treatments. All of our children are struggling with social, emotional, or behavioral challenges and receive appropriate intervention therapy at LDC as full-time students, therapy patients, or program participants and functioning technology is an important part of helping to deliver programs and services.
\nEvery year we see more than 500 children through our programs and all of them will benefit from providing functioning, updated technology. The classroom Smartboards are used to deliver regular curriculum, summer programming, and special programs for children throughout the year, while tablets are essential for helping students with communication delays and language barriers fully participate in classes and treatment.
\nOur current equipment is on its last legs, with almost everything ageing out of software updates and our older tablets unable to run newer programs and apps. As a therapeutic day program and therapy clinic LDC receives no government support for our students and patients, so we rely 100% on a combination of fundraising and revenue from the clinic to fund our programs and initiatives. Your support will help to set us up for the next several years with the tools and resources our children need to continue to work through their challenges and find a more hopeful path for the future.\n<\/p>\n
