Project Title: Choreographic Voices: CMDC Artist-in-Residence
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
This project is an initiative designed to uplift and amplify the voices of BIPOC choreographers while providing mentorship and professional development to emerging dancers. Through this residency, a guest choreographer will be commissioned to create a new work that reflects the richness of multicultural dance and contributes to CMDC\u2019s evolving repertory. It is is a dual-impact initiative, fostering both choreographic innovation and artistic mentorship. The selected artist will collaborate with 10-15 emerging dancers, guiding them through the creative process, composition techniques, and artistic expression. Students will gain firsthand experience in professional-level choreography, refining their skills and broadening their understanding of narrative movement and cultural storytelling through dance. The project will culminate in a showcase performance, where the newly developed piece will be presented to CMDC audiences, industry professionals, and the broader Chicago community. This event will serve as both a celebration of artistic excellence and an opportunity to amplify underrepresented voices in dance.<\/p>\n
