Our mission is to ensure that all children, regardless of their sensory needs, have access to safe, engaging, and developmentally supportive spaces. We believe that no child should feel excluded due to sensory sensitivities, and we are committed to breaking down barriers to accessibility in everyday life.
For many neurodivergent individuals and their families, everyday spaces can be overwhelming and inaccessible due to loud noises, bright lights, and other sensory triggers. Unfortunately, public awareness of these challenges remains limited, leaving many families struggling to find environments where their children feel comfortable and included. Sensory Safe is transforming accessibility by providing a digital calendar and directory that connects families to sensory-friendly events in their local communities. While online event calendars exist, none are specifically tailored to hyper-local sensory-friendly events that are updated consistently. By bridging this gap, we ensure that families can easily find inclusive opportunities where their children can participate without fear of overstimulation or exclusion.
Our efforts go beyond simply identifying sensory-friendly spaces—we actively create them. One of our most impactful initiatives is hosting monthly sensory-friendly birthday parties in partnership with local businesses. Birthday celebrations hold deep emotional and social significance, forming lasting childhood memories that contribute to a sense of identity and belonging. However, for children with sensory sensitivities, traditional birthday parties can be overwhelming, leading to isolation or avoidance of celebrations altogether. By offering sensory-friendly birthday parties, we provide a safe and joyful space where children can celebrate with their friends and family without the stress of an overstimulating environment. These events foster confidence, strengthen social connections, and create positive experiences that children carry with them throughout their lives.
The funding we are requesting will directly benefit children and families in the community by expanding access to inclusive activities and ensuring that sensory-sensitive individuals are not left behind. Our goals include enhancing accessibility, encouraging socialization, fostering positive family experiences and boosting self-esteem and confidence.
With your support, Sensory Safe Inc. can continue to create meaningful opportunities for neurodivergent individuals and their families. By funding this initiative, you are not only providing immediate relief to children who struggle with sensory sensitivities but also shaping a future where inclusivity is the norm rather than the exception. Every child deserves the chance to experience joy, connection, and a sense of belonging. Together, we can build a world where sensory-friendly spaces are not a rarity, but a standard in every community.

Total Project Budget: 97,500

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Walmark Spark Grants (Potential), A11y Pro Geeks (Committed)

Project Duration: Ongoing
Geographical Area Served: Florida, Atlanta, Texas and Nationwide
Age Group To Be Served: Birth – 21

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs.
Contact First Name: Deidre
Contact Last Name: Honea
Contact Title: Grant Writer
Contact Phone: 479-619-8843
Contact Email: deidre@sensorysafe.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Sensory Safe Events Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: 7901 4TH ST N STE 300 City: ST PETERSBURG State: FL Postal Code: 33702 Main Phone: 479-619-8843 Main Fax: Organization Website: https://sensorysafe.events Employer ID Number: 99-1791684 Organization Tax Status: Proposal Information Today’s Date: 03/13/2025 Requested […]

[3

post-7404","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
