Project Title: Martial Arts and Leadership for Underprivileged Youth
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
At Budo Accelerator, we transform lives through the power of martial arts. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Orange County, we provide a unique approach to youth education and development, integrating martial arts training with a leadership development curriculum developed by experts in education, psychology, and the martial arts, and academically accredited through UC Irvine\u2019s Divisions of Undergraduate Education and Continuing Education. Students in our program participate in regular martial arts sessions, attend weekly classes focused on life, leadership, and career development skills, access online curriculum, and connect with mentors across the country through our mentor portal. <\/p>\n
Our mission is to foster independence and resilience while equipping today’s youth with essential life, leadership, and career skills to become independent and productive members of society.<\/p>\n
We serve youth from middle school through college from low-income, first-generation, and disadvantaged backgrounds who must often overcome various social, academic, and administrative barriers to succeed. 90% of our students come from minority backgrounds, and nearly 90% come from first-generation and \/ or low-income backgrounds. 60% of our students are female. We serve 260 students annually.\n<\/p>\n

\nSources For The Project (Committed & Potential): We have over 100 individual donors, with contributions ranging from $20 up to $15K, a growing group of supporting foundations, and partners like UC Irvine and Simon Scholars that pay for program services that cover 10-15% of our operating budget each year. <\/p>\n
