Warrior Counseling Works offers a transformative equine-assisted therapy program specifically designed for the mental health needs of at-risk youth in Texas. Our mobile therapy model enables us to bring horses and therapy directly to shelters, residential treatment centers, and community organizations, setting up round pens on-site. Our certified teams, comprising a Mental Health Specialist and an Equine Specialist, serve over 350 at-risk youth and veterans annually. <\/p>\n
We are seeking funding to enhance our at-risk youth program, utilizing the awarded funds from October 2025 through the end of September 2026.<\/p>\n
Equine therapy provides a unique, experiential learning environment where youth can develop emotional regulation, build trust, and enhance social skills. The interaction with non-judgmental and responsive horses promotes self-awareness and confidence, helping to reduce symptoms of mental health issues. This approach fosters resilience and coping strategies, supporting youth in processing trauma and improving overall well-being in a nurturing setting.<\/p>\n
Similarly, at-risk youth in foster care or residential treatment centers face alarming challenges. Studies show that up to 80% of foster youth exhibit significant mental health issues, with many lacking access to trauma-informed care. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration highlights that early intervention is key to breaking cycles of trauma, abuse, and neglect. <\/p>\n
By overcoming barriers such as transportation and stigma, Warrior Counseling Works ensures that underserved populations receive the critical care they need.<\/p>\n
