Project Title: Victory Tuition Assistance for Children with Autism and Related Disabilities

It is estimated to cost at least $17,000 more per year to care for a child with autism compared to a child without autism (CDC, 2015). Tuition cost is the most commonly cited reason preventing parents from successful enrollment in our programs. Annual tuition ranges from $18,000 to $44,000 annually depending on the program. Families seeking financial aid submit a formal application which includes documenting the proof of income (i.e., most recent tax return) and an appointed committee determines the level of aid. In the last three years alone, The Victory Center has distributed over $100,000 in scholarships to deserving families. Scholarships range in size from $2,500 to $18,000 depending on a family\u2019s financial circumstances. Despite our efforts to provide scholarships and reduce the cost of tuition, there is still great need for additional funds. The reality is that the average annual income for a family household in Florida is $46,956 (US Census Bureau), rates of autism have continued to rise, intensive behavioral intervention is costly, and state scholarships only partially fund our programs. <\/p>\n
