The needs for our youth are greater than ever before, especially in very rural areas. Creating a space that can be utilized to help support the individual needs of youth in our community and region is crucial. We currently do not have a private dedicated space for our boys to partake in their telehealth services. Right now, our boys use an iPad within cubical walls filled with donated furniture and old carpet. Remodeling this space will offer privacy for our residents when they have virtual meetings which could be relating to mental health, substance use, court ect. The space also remains flexible for group meetings and visitation. Telehealth services eliminate geographic and transportation barriers, allows residents to connect to specialty providers, allows access to culturally responsive services, and reduces concerns for privacy and stigma.
Our program is located 5 miles outside of Breckenridge MN. Winters can make it difficult and sometimes impossible to get to appointments, meetings, ect. Having a telehealth/virtual meeting space will help eliminate many barriers. Better meeting the individual needs of the residents we serve will increase the opportunity to thrive and prepare for future success. Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Together we can help give our young men the resources they need to reach their full potential.

The project includes separating the room with a new wall, new carpet, 9 chairs, two group facilitator chairs, and standing screen technology.

Total Project Budget: 31,750

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): We will reach out to service clubs, businesses, individuals, churches, organizations as well as other foundations to help us reach our goal .

Project Duration: Completed by fall 2025
Geographical Area Served: Wilkin County MN and surrounding areas.
Age Group To Be Served: 12-18

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs
Contact First Name: Tammy
Contact Last Name: Anderson
Contact Title: Director of Development
Contact Phone: 2182057176
Contact Email: vlbhinfo@gmail.com

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Valley Lake Boys Home Legal Name (if Different): Valley Lake Boys Home inc.
