The Swaliga Foundation’s #STEAMtheBlock program is a pioneering initiative in STEAM education. The program includes:
– Swaliga’s original, evidence-based STEAM educational curriculum for K-12 students
– After-school #STEAMtheBlock clubs
– Cultural Exchange Program

Founded by Lemond Brown, a visionary in STEAM education, Swaliga serves approximately 1,000 K-12 students annually, engaging them with a curriculum that merges technical skills with creative expression. Swaliga’s innovative approach uses the arts as a lens to explore the STEM, build confidence, and connect students to potential career paths in STEAM fields.

Funding will provide general support for the Swaliga Foundation’s #STEAMtheBlock programming, which offers career and technical education (CTE) to D.C. youth in under-represented diverse groups. Grant support helps us continue to offer our program at no cost to families. The cornerstone of Swaliga’s programming is our afterschool #STEAMtheBlock club. During the 2024-2025 school year, the Swaliga Foundation has clubs at eight K-12 public schools in Wards 7 and 8 of Washington, D.C., including five high schools, two middle schools, and one elementary school. This investment will directly benefit approximately 1,000 students who will receive in-person STEAM education after school for one hour each week throughout the school year.

Total Project Budget: $200,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Best Buy Foundation (committed), DC Commission on Arts and Humanities (committed)

Project Duration: Continuous
Geographical Area Served: Primarily Washington, D.C., with additional program sites in Baltimore, Minneapolis, Houston, and Los Angeles
Age Group To Be Served: 8-18

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Grace
Contact Last Name: Lovio
Contact Title: Development Specialist
Contact Phone: (301) 452-7716
Contact Email: grants@swaligafoundation.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Swaliga Foundation Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: 400 Massachusetts Avenue Northwest City: Washington State: District of Columbia Postal Code: 20001 Main Phone: (301) 452-7716 Main Fax: Organization Website: https://swaligafoundation.org/ Employer ID Number: 46-2568999 Organization Tax Status: 501(c)3 Proposal Information Today’s Date: 11/11/2024 Requested […]

[3

post-6665","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
