Our campus, known as "The Refuge," comprises two buildings, expansive green spaces, an outdoor pavilion, a fully equipped kitchen, one gymnasium, and a recently updated playground. Rise Up for Kids brings nearly three decades of experience dedicated to empowering children and youth. Our commitment is realized through personalized mentoring, small group youth development initiatives, and a comprehensive after-school program.<\/p>\n
The 2023 State of the Child in Tennessee Report underscores concerning realities facing our youth:<\/p>\n
One in five children live in poverty.
\nOver 1000 youth experience homelessness.
\nMore than 40% battle obesity, with physical activity declining by 15% over the past decade.
\nTennessee ranks 15th in the U.S. for child abuse cases.
\nMental health issues are prevalent, with over 20% of students contemplating suicide.
\nIn Johnson City, these challenges are magnified, particularly among youth from under-resourced backgrounds. Limited access to positive role models and essential life skills often translates into lower academic performance and an ongoing struggle for sufficient support and resources.<\/p>\n

Through our facilities and programs, we provide a safe haven where children can flourish academically, emotionally, and socially.
