Exploring the human experience is integral to the fundamental question these young people are grappling with, which includes issues of identity and sense of place.

All activities will take place in Globe-Miami-San Carlos, which is rich in diversity. One local school superintendent noted that his student population is a third White, a third Latinx, and a third Native American. The diversity and the proximity of these various people groups offer many opportunities for conversations and connections, especially among youth, who comprise over twenty-five percent of our population.

A cohort of local youth will be selected from an application process in the fall of 2024 and will meet weekly with our leadership coaches. They will be equipped with new vocabulary, communication skills and a capacity for critical analysis. From this space, from January to June 2025, they will organize and facilitate monthly interactive roundtable discussions on topics relevant to them for other youth in partnership with their schools and/or in their community, e.g., the local cafe. They will also pilot monthly community outreach events that are creative solutions to some of the challenges they perceive.

At the end of the project in June, the youth cohort will capture their process and learning in a culminating piece, e.g., short docufilm, photo collage, multimedia journal, etc. The youth themselves will choose how they would like to express their voice in this piece as well as how they will showcase it to the larger community.

Total Project Budget: 22,250

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Arizona Humanities, Kang Leadership Grant, Arizona Commission on the Arts

Project Duration: January to June 2025
Geographical Area Served: Globe-Miami-San Carlos, Arizona
Age Group To Be Served: Ages 14 to 24

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Leslie
Contact Last Name: Kim
Contact Title: Director
Contact Phone: 650-906-6655
Contact Email: leslie@monsoonyouth.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Monsoon Youth Education Project Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Summer Youth Musical Theatre Program Mailing Address: 153 S Broad St, Suite A City: Globe State: Arizona Postal Code: 85501 Main Phone: 9284875305 Main Fax: Organization Website: https://www.monsoonyouth.org/ Employer ID Number: 83-2032463 Organization Tax Status: 501c3 […]

[3

post-6475","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
