We do this through our 74 in kind donors. We have a 5000sqft warehouse, 2 refrigerated trucks, a forklift, and a walk-in refrigerator that provides us with this capacity. We have 1 full time and 1 part time employees, over 50 volunteers, and 78 community partners that collect and distribute the food in their neighbourhoods. We also partner with a drug rehab centre of a local hospital to provide warm meals, nonperishable snacks, and toiletries to 100-200 of their clients once a week. Our plan is to expand this service to a daily meal service pending funding for a vehicle. We provide a full Thanksgiving dinner to over 1000 Baltimore city residents each year who cannot afford a meal and/or have nowhere to go to at Thanksgiving. Last year we distributed over 260 turkeys to families who could not afford a turkey at Thanksgiving. We are currently serving over 64000 families each month with perishable and nonperishable food. All our services are free. Last year we distributed over one million pounds of food and over 6,000 pounds of nonfood aid items. Another critical function of our food distribution program is educating the recipients of the food on good nutrition habits and a varied fruit and vegetable diet. Many of the recipients of the food we distribute are in the Baltimore metropolitan area and do not have knowledge of various healthy food choices they have and we provide this along with the food we distribute. We are committed to reducing food wastage and to this end work with local restaurants to receive and distribute their food to people in need. After Hurricane Ian we sent 8 tractor trailer loads of food and aid to Florida.

Total Project Budget: $105106

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Wawa Foundation, Baltimore Community Foundation, Abell Foundation, Harry & Jeanette Weinberg foundation, Various individual contributors

Project Duration: Ongoing/rolling
Geographical Area Served: Maryland
Age Group To Be Served: All ages

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Dr
Contact First Name: Sandra
Contact Last Name: Panchalingam
Contact Title: Associate
Contact Phone: 4103302738
Contact Email: adoptablockinc@gmail.com

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Adopt A Block Inc Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: 1607 Cromwell Bridge Road City: Baltimore State: MD Postal Code: 21234 Main Phone: 410-330-2738 Main Fax: Organization Website: www.adoptablockinc.com Employer ID Number: 52-1758039 Organization Tax Status: 501c3 Proposal Information Today’s Date: April 16 2024 […]

[3

post-6423","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
