Project Title: The Campus Expansion Project

The Lighthouse Academy of Fredericksburg (LAF) is a Montessori school that firmly believes every child deserves an education designed to meet their own unique learning patterns. Our accredited high school program allows students with learning challenges to learn at their own pace with an emphasis on hands-on learning activities, group projects, real-life learning applications, and socioemotional development.<\/p>\n
Data from the state Department of Education shows that only 46.67% of high school students with Individualized Learning Plans (IEPs) graduated in the 2021-2022 school year, a trend that has gone down compared to the previous year. However, LAF has a 100% graduation rate among all of our students, including those who are receiving adapted learning plans. Without the supportive Montessori environment carefully curated at LAF, these students may otherwise have struggled academically and socially in other programs.<\/p>\n
The Lighthouse Academy Campus Expansion Project will be tentatively finished in September 2025. This project will allow us to admit 10 more high school students from the community, host at least 5 community events a year, host sports camps and summer programs for low-income families in the community, and improve the educational resources available to community students receiving adapted learning plans.<\/p>\n
The facility will give our adolescent students their own building equipped with 5 classrooms, a student workshop and art center, a theater and basketball facility, and technology such as Smartboards and new class computers. This will also allow us to utilize more classrooms in the main building in order to expand our offerings for younger grades, increasing potential elementary enrollment by up to 30 students.<\/p>\n
