Since 1967, TheaterWorksUSA (TWUSA) has created exceptional, transformative theatrical experiences for young and family audiences in diverse communities across the United States. For nearly six decades, we have been a trailblazer in the not-for-profit theater industry, leading the evolution of theater for young audiences as an art form. We are proud to say that we emphasize accessibility by bringing our productions to more than 440 communities across the nation annually. Since our founding, over 100 million children, educators, and families have experienced live theater with a TheaterWorksUSA production, often for the first time. <\/p>\n
Our theater work prioritizes the experience and perspective of children, and respects their honesty and intelligence. Productions often feature current events, historical figures, and complex real-life issues, serving as catalysts for important conversations between young people and the adults in their lives. <\/p>\n
Our North American Tours bring original plays and musicals to a diverse and expansive audience, reaching young people from pre-K through high school in communities with few resources and little arts access reaching nearly 1.5 million children, educators, and caregivers nationwide every year. We are able to keep costs low for schools and families through our subsidized ticket program Cause for Applause, which not only limits our ticket price at $12 per student but also distributes free and reduced-cost tickets to those who demonstrate need. <\/p>\n
We recently implemented a new core strategy to pilot a Regional Operations Hub model to improve operating efficiency, cultivate local relationships, and enhance the delivery of our mission from coast to coast. Crucially, this initiative will also expand and diversify our staff. Currently, we are in the process of implementing a significant hub in Los Angeles, CA and are looking to add several additional regional operations hubs in areas with established relationships like in Pennsylvania and Florida, as well as other opportunities throughout the United States. <\/p>\n
