**Bridging Transportation Gaps for Vulnerable Populations**<\/p>\n
Transportation is a lifeline, yet for many vulnerable individuals, it’s an insurmountable barrier. Unable to access essential services or explore their community, they’re left behind. In Virginia, 1 in 4 people lives with a disability, underscoring the need for inclusive transportation. Public transit falls short, with long waits and inaccessible routes, and areas like York County don’t even have the option.<\/p>\n
We’re pioneering a solution: a volunteer-driven transport service for vulnerable populations. Our drivers undergo thorough checks and disability awareness training, ensuring safety and inclusivity. Once our app is complete they will also be equipped with GPS. Knight Rides drivers provide reliable, accessible rides tailored to individual needs.<\/p>\n
By supplementing public transit, we empower vulnerable individuals to engage fully in community life. Whether accessing healthcare or employment, everyone deserves safe, independent mobility. Our hope is to expand our app to be used by other local nonprofits after it is piloted within our organization.<\/p>\n
Your support is crucial. Currently, Knight Rides provides vital transport for students with disabilities, facilitating access to inclusive internships within our READY Program. In 2023 alone, we provided 1,162 rides. That is what the project budget is based off of, but the program is growing exponentially the actual cost will likely be much higher by 2025 with a larger increase in rides provided. With your help, we can support and expand these efforts, ensuring no one is left behind. Together, let’s create a community where everyone thrives.<\/p>\n
