It particularly focuses on Black, Brown, Indigenous, and gender non-conforming youth, but is supportive of all young people involved with criminal, foster care, and welfare systems. It is a comprehensive youth development program offered in schools, juvenile halls, and other youth-serving settings. Through weekly sessions, participants engage in an evidence-informed leadership development curriculum that builds the knowledge and skills needed to get at the root causes of problems, to understand their lives and choices in the context of wider systems, and to become effective advocates for themselves and their communities.

Young people build healthy relationships with peers and positive adult mentors, explore social and restorative justice, and gain a sense of agency and possibility that sets them up for lifelong success. Our curriculum has been designed with a positive youth development lens, meaning that all of our sessions and our overall approach are grounded in the developmental assets framework and focus on building each young person’s inherent sense of positive identity, commitment to learning, social competencies, and positive values.

PHASE ONE: In this introductory phase, young people explore ideas around identity, equity, connection, community, justice, resistance, and activism. They begin to learn how to use their voice and power to affect positive change in their lives and communities. Cohorts of 10-12 youth participate in twelve weekly sessions.

PHASE TWO: In this more intensive phase, participants move beyond introductory topics and engage in deeper healing as well as embark on a participatory action research project. This second part of the program is a greater commitment meant to engage youth who are motivated to continue their learning and healing journeys. It is open to cohorts of 10-12 youth who have completed phase one.

Total Project Budget: $616,619.09

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Sierra Health Foundation, Heising Foundation, East Bay, MILPA, and The California Endowment.

Project Duration: 12 months
Geographical Area Served: Kings County, California
Age Group To Be Served: 13-21

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms
Contact First Name: Misty
Contact Last Name: Franklin
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 559-670-3775
Contact Email: misty@restore180.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Restore 180 Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: 240 N 12th Street Suite 109 PMB 350 City: Hanford State: CA Postal Code: 93230 Main Phone: 559-670-3775 Main Fax: Organization Website: www.restore180.org Employer ID Number: 87-1164599 Organization Tax Status: 501c3 Nonprofit Proposal Information Today’s Date: […]

[3

post-6031","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
