Project Title: Individual Sessions
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Individual Sessions are 90 minutes twice per month to children and young adults ages 5-18 who have been through traumatic events and other life challenges. Volunteers are equipped and utilized to lead Sessions as mentors. The goal of Individual Sessions is to encourage growth in confidence, trust, and a healthy self-image by guiding, supporting, and encouraging the participant during Ranch activities. Activities include a simple barn chore, grooming, riding, groundwork and Liberty, barn projects, arts and crafts, taking walks on the land, etc.<\/p>\n
Participants in Individual Sessions will grow in natural horsemanship and knowledge of how to properly care for horses. Natural horsemanship teaches how to partner with a horse in a supportive and encouraging relationship based on mutual trust. Rescued horses are incorporated into the Program which demonstrates that healing is possible no matter the situation and personal worth is based on your inherent value and not your capabilities nor determined based on your past. <\/p>\n
Participants experience improvement in their mental health as working with horses is naturally empowering. They gain the confidence to overcome adversity and persevere when circumstances do not go as planned. Many positive character traits emerge from the relationships with their horse under the direction of a mentor including clear communication, trust, self-awareness, and healthy boundaries. In addition to tangible benefits, working with horses has many emotional benefits including increased feelings of connection, belonging, peace, and joy.<\/p>\n
