Project Title: Whole Child Model

These funds will assist us in meeting the children at their current level of education and provide advancement by relevant MIND-BODY-SOUL programming through our Whole Child model. Data from nearby elementary schools illustrates the immense needs of the youth in our community. 95% of children are minority, 89% are on the free\/reduced lunch program, 71% come from a home with limited English language proficiency, and 81% are categorized by Spring Branch ISD, the school district where the majority of our participants are enrolled, as "at risk" of not graduating from high school. These figures represent a need for a stronger means of entry for the youth to find their life calling and opportunity and improve the livelihoods of future generations living in the community. To that end, we are offering solutions to needs that should aid the community in both the short-term and long-term futures of their children. Our Whole Child model focuses on holistically growing the skills of our youth through the MIND-BODY-SOUL programming. Performances on the field, scores in the classroom, interpersonal and communication skills all continue to develop as a result of the efforts of the Whole Child model. This opens doorways that in many cases, prior to SpringSpirit, would not be there or, at the very least, were there but hard to find and pursue. These children will develop confidence and act as models to others, which, in the long run, can act as inspiration to their families and others in the community to do the same.<\/p>\n
